Praying for Worship

Worship

During this segment of the APT prayer time, we focus on the worship aspect of our home gatherings. This includes singing, praying and the reading of scripture.

  • Ask that God receive glory from every aspect of our Worship.
  • Ask that God glorify His Word and His Son above all others.
  • Prayer that all in attendance, will have hearts set on Worship.
  • Ask God to reveal the true nature of worship to all in attendance.
  • Ask God to bind the enemy from working during the worship time, whether form that may take (distraction, bitterness, sin in one’s life, etc)
  • That the people would: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” – Colossians 3:16
  • Singing Portion:
    • Ask that God will receive the glory from the voices of the people
    • Ask that God would remove any barrier that is keeping someone from lifting their voice in praise
    • That those suggesting and leading the music would seek glory for the Lord and not themselves
    • That all in attendance would listen to the words that are being sung, and turn them into praise, adoration and thanksgiving
    • That all would:
      • Know – “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD.” – Psalm 40:3
      • “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” – Psalm 100: 1, 2
      • “Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.” – Psalm 147:1
      • “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!” – Psalm150:1-6
      • Come with this attitude: “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!” – Psalm 95:1
      • “What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.” – 1 Corinthians 14:15
    • Scripture Readings
      • That God’s Word will be honored
      • That God’s Word will find it’s intended targets
      • That any barriers erected by the enemy or man will be laid low so the Word of God can be glorified
      • That the scripture will touch someone specifically
      • That the scriptures being read will lead to conviction and application in the lives of the hearers
      • That God Word would not return unto Him void but will accomplish what He wills it to accomplish (Isaiah 55:11)
    • Prayers
      • That all distractions would cease and that every mind will be focused on prayer
      • That the people will be moved to pray in one accord
      • That the Holy Spirit will guide the words of those praying out loud
      • That the heart that has been hardened will be softened by the still small voice of the Holy Spirit
