Introduction to the AHF Prayer Team –
First, we would like to thank you for being an intercessory prayer warrior for Agape Home Fellowship. There are many ministries here at AHF and our intercessory prayer ministries are among them. There is a difference though between this ministry and the others: Visibility.
All other ministries can be measured by some metric. How many people were reached? How many were in your class? Did they learn anything? Is their walk with the Lord growing? The list of measurements goes on and on. What makes intercessory prayer different? Well, you can’t really measure the results. The battles we fight are unseen. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” This battle is in the heavenlies and this side of Heaven we may never know just exactly how our intercession worked in the life of someone. So…what exactly are we doing?
Intercession is praying on behalf of others; bringing their needs before the Lord as if they were your own. A wonderful example of Intercessory Prayer in the Bible is when Abraham negotiated with God over Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord revealed to Abraham that he was about to destroy these two great cities for their grave wickedness. Abraham interceded for them and got the Lord to agree that if there could be found as few as ten righteous people in the city of Sodom he would spare both Sodom and Gomorrah. (Genesis 18:16-33) If you don’t know how this story turns out read both chapter 18 and 19 in Genesis.
We must remember that our prayer ministries are part of a great battle against a dangerous enemy and his targets are the hearts and minds, and eventually the souls, of those sitting in our Sanctuary. Satan will seek to steal the Word of Life from the hearts of those hearing the message today (see Matthew 13 & Mark 4). This is where you come in!
“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night; ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence.” – Isaiah 62: 6 (ESV)
“And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.” – Ezekiel 22:20 (ESV)
As an intercessory prayer warrior, you are the watchman on the wall for this congregation. You are the one who has said “I WILL STAND IN THE GAP!” Our Worship Prayer teams are intercessors. We bring the needs of the AHF leadership and the people before the thrown of grace and plead for God’s mercy. Please allow this guide to be just that: A guide. Let it guide your time here as an intercessor.
